János Kóbor, RIP, lead singer for Omega

János "Mecky" Kóbor, lead singer and founder of the Hungarian progressive rock band Omega, passed away today after battling COVID-19. He was 78. Founded in 1962 with Benkő László, Omega were Hungary's premier rock band. In 1967, composer Gábor Presser joined their ranks, recording dozens of records, including several in German for the Bacillus label with Peter Hauke producing. Their 1969 hit "Gyöngyhajú lány" ("The girl with pearly hair")" was covered by the Scorpions (as "White Dove") and sampled by Kanye West. My condolences to his family and friends, may you rest in peace on Rock's Mount Olympus.
