Hawkwind's Space Ritual Deluxe Box Set

Cherry Red's Atomhenge label is due to release an eleven 11 (!) disc version of the classic Hawkwind live album Space Ritual in late September to celebrate it's 50th Anniversary. In addition to the original 2CD set, the set includes three complete live shows (Liverpool, Brixton and the unreleased Locarno Sunderland) newly mixed by Stephen Tayler along with a new stereo and a (presumably new) 5.1 mix.

Album Review: Yes' Mirror To The Sky

It’s no secret that Yes’ studio offerings since the epic (and vastly underappreciated) 2001 release Magnification have mostly underwhelmed even the most diehard Yes fans. Founding member and bassist Chris Squire’s last album was 2014’s Heaven and Earth, their first in well over a decade. Produced by Roy Thomas Baker, the album - featuring guitarist Steve Howe, keyboardist Geoff Downes and drummer Alan White - was the first to feature vocalist Jon “Juano” Davison.

Robin Lumley, RIP

Robin Lumley, a founding member of Brand X, passed away yesterday from heart failure. His Marscape and Peter And The Wolf were two albums I had prior to his work in Brand X. My condolences to his family and friends.
This is from his bandmate Percy Jones:

"Rob Lumley's health took a sudden turn for the worse a week ago. He went into hospital in Derriford, near his home in Tavistock, Devon, UK, for a quick operation, which had been scheduled, when he had heart failure. The bad news came in that same afternoon on March 9 th.

Review: In the Court of the Crimson King - King Crimson at 50

Sigmund Freud and I were listening to King Crimson the other evening. We ran through the entire studio catalog: From the genre-defining 1969 debut, In The Court Of The Crimson King, to the other “Peter Sinfield-Robert Fripp'' era releases, we were stunned with their originality and musicianship. We next ventured on to the “Larks” era and monstrous rhythm section of Bill Bruford-John Wetton. This was perhaps my favorite, being so visceral. After a little nip of Schnapps, we continued on to the early 80s incarnation, or Discipline lineup, with the Americans Adrian Belew and Tony Levin.
