An Evening with Beat: The Music of King Crimson

I don't think I've been this excited about an 80s band for quite some time! Check the link below for tour dates (selling out fast!)

New Release: Emerson Lake & Powell Complete Collection

From Cherry Red, the complete Emerson Lake & Powell collects their very strong 1986 studio album along featuring three bonus tracks, their live album ‘Live in Concert’ and a CD of rehearsals, ‘The Sprocket Sessions’, only previously released in the 90s as a bootleg. On a personal note, I attended this concert, recorded in Lakeland, Florida.

Damo Suzuki, RIP

Damo Suzuki passed away on Friday February 9th. He had battled cancer for sometime, in fact, I just saw the US premiere of Energy: A Documentary About Damo Suzuki last week. RIP Damo, and thank you for being you.

Chris Karrer, RIP

As reported by the Embryo Facebook page, Chris Karrer has passed away. An absolute musical genius, he was a founding member of the Amon Düül commune and mainstay of Amon Düül II, playing guitar, violin and sax. He also played with Embryo. This picture is from Finkenbach Festival in 2018, last time I saw the band. My condolences to his family and friends.

Strawberry Bricks Entry:
Unending Ascending is the third studio installment from the Gong lineup of Kavus Torabi, Fabio Golfetti, Ian East, Dave Sturt, and Cheb Nettles, again released by Kscope and produced by Frank Byng. The one-two punch of “Tiny Galaxies” and “My Guitar Is A Spaceship” kick off the album with equal parts of pop sensibility and heavy riff.

A Brief History of Gong after the 1970s

Gong foreman Daevid Allen retreated to Australia for much of the 1980s. Out of the ever-peering eye of the public, his self-imposed exile never kept him from being Daevid Allen; he just didn’t release records. Towards the end of the decade, he returned to the UK to restart his public career as a musician with renewed vigor and prolificity as a solo artist and a collaborator. Initially using the Invisible Opera Company of Tibet moniker, Gongmaison was first out of the dock.
