Strawberry Bricks Entry: 
The Rutles were a fictional band created by Monty Python member Eric Idle and ex-Bonzo Dog Dooh Dah Band member Neil Innes after The Beatles. The pair conceived the Beatles-eque song “I Must Be In Love” while working on their Rutland Weekend Television series for BBC. The concept gained traction to an hour long film All You Need Is Cash when Saturday Night Live’s producer Lorne Michaels and director Gary Weis jumped aboard.

Derek Shulman

Derek Victor Shulman was born in 1947, in The Gorbals, Glasgow, Scotland.

I was born in the heart of Glasgow, Scotland, in an area called the Gorbals. From what my brother Phil has told me, it was similar to areas like South Bronx or Watts back in the day. It was an incredibly rough and dangerous area, full of tenements with Jewish immigrants from Eastern Europe, Catholics from Ireland, and Protestants from Glasgow all violently fighting for their turf.

New Gentle Giant Box Set, Unburied Treasure

Unburied Treasure is a planned CD boxed set of Gentle Giant music and memorabilia from Madfish Records, a label of Snapper Music. It is due in 2019. It will be a limited edition of 2000 copies and include all 12 original albums, many discs of live recordings, a coffee table-sized book of memorabilia, and more.

Sandy Denny’s reasons for departing Fairport Convention included an outlet for her songwriting, but a reluctance to tour and be away her partner Trevor Lucas were also key. To wit, she formed Fotheringay with Lucas-named after the Fairport song of the same name. He called on former Eclection bandmate and drummer Gerry Conway; former Dantalian’s Chariot bassist Pat Donaldson came from a recommendation by initial guitarist Albert Lee (who was recommended by Richard Thompson!); Lee didn’t work out, and American Jerry Donahue completed the band.
