Dik Mik, RIP

From Hawkwind's Facebook page:
"We are very sad to let you know that our old friend and band mate DikMik, (Michael Davies), passed away early this morning. He will be loved and remembered for his innovative contributions not only to Hawkwind, but to a whole musical genre of which he was an important pioneer..."
Born 1943, in Richmond, Surrey (UK). Died 2017. A former roadie, joined Hawkwind in august 1969 as an electronics manipulator, adding sounds and effects to their music. He left Hawkwind in june 1973.

The late 60s and early 70s were a time of change in British rock music. The psychedelia that rose just a few years prior had opened the bridges to a variety of new styles of music as a new generation of men that were entering their early 20s, began to find their voices. Gone were the cover versions and pop singles; in was something much deeper, both musically and intellectually, undoubtedly following the lead set first by The Beatles and their Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band album. Gentle Giant was one such group.
